Audience classification
Psychographics: presentation
In pairs, you are going to investigate one of Young and Rubicam’s Psychographic groups.
You need to put together a presentation in which you create an example couple for that particular psychographic group and suggest what their media consumption might involve.
Note: You need to publish the tasks on each of your blogs individually.
Structure
Who you are working with: Sanjivani
The psychographic group you are researching: Aspires
Introduce your example couple that represents your group: The Kardashians
1) Make up their names: Kim Kardashian and the Kardashian family
2) Where do they work/study? Studied law , work with collabing with clothes, donuts/ food brands and social media status
3) What do they do in their spare time? Make media trendy vids and create new fashion trends at met gala
Now suggest their media consumption:
Print: What newspapers/magazines does your group read (if any)? magazines like vogue and on Instagram is popping with the relationship drama
Broadcast: What TV programmes/channels do your group watch? Radio stations? Netflix series , keeping up with the Kardashians
Online: What technology do they own? What websites do they visit (if any)? What social media do they use? They use Instagram and TikTok
Audience classification: blog tasks
1) Media Factsheet
Read Media Factsheet 232 - Approaches to Studying Audiences. You'll find all our factsheets in our Media Factsheet archive: M:\Resources\A Level\Media Factsheets. You can also access them online here if you use your Greenford Google login. Read the factsheet and answer the following questions:
1) How is audience defined in the Factsheet? An audience is a general term for the collection of individual consumers of a media product.
2) What does the infographic for Gen Z in the age of Covid-19 suggest about the media Gen Z consumes?
would increasingly consumed videos, streams and video games after the pandemic whilst the consumption of physical press, radio and books have declines possibly due to the fact that physical media media would be hard to access
3) How do media companies target and measure their audience in the digital age? They rely on data from specialist companies to target specific the consumers that use specific platform on their schedules and algorithms.
4) What did the NRS used to do and what does PAMCO do now?
The NRS used to collect demographic information on audiences who read newspapers, but after being taken over by PAMCO, it collects information on audiences who consume not only print but also digital magazines and newspapers.
5) How are demographics and psychographics defined in the factsheet?
Demographics looks at set and simple information, whereas psychographics looks at the lifestyle of an audience
6) Now read the rest of the factsheet - we'll be studying these theories over the next few lessons. Choose one audience theory you think is interesting and explain why.
social learning theory teaches us how the media influences the behaviour of people. It has study that conducts to prove this.
2) Psychographics presentation and reflection
1) Post the details from your psychographics presentation (details in the blogpost above) to your blog with all details of the couple you created and their media consumption (it needs to be on your blog individually but can be a duplicate of your partner's post).
https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1-EUuWYnDKN03a8vsqqsr_UoZ6wuP6xWHrj1D_sEgU8A/edit?usp=sharing
2) Reflect on what you have learned about psychographics. Which psychographic groups do you feel best fit YOUR lifestyle and personality? Explain how and why you made your decision and provide evidence justifying this.
I’ve learned that audiences can be divided into different groups based on their psychographics, which describe how people present themselves and what they aspire to be. I identify as an Aspirer because I’m very interested in fashion, makeup, and appearances, and I enjoy experimenting with different styles. However, I also see myself as a Succeeder since I’m driven to make the most out of my life and achieve success.
